Works 4 me is a training program created by people with learning disabilities using real life experiences of work and work experience.

In 2009 the government launched Valuing Employment Now. This strategy is about making sure that people with learning disabilities get the support they need to get and keep a paid job.

Valuing Employment Now has been written because we know that people with learning disabilities want to work, but very often do not get the support they need. The Government wants to see more people with learning disabilities in employment.

“Works 4 me” was funded through the Department of Health Section 64 grant. The project aims to support “Valuing People Now” (2009) by creating a training program which raises the awareness and promotes the employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities.

Speakup has created a toolkit with presentations which can be used to help people think about work, work experiences and jobs. The DVD shows people talking about their jobs, this is being added to all the time. Click on the ‘DVD and Toolkit’ link to download the toolkit and watch the DVD.

Speakup can train your organisation or group using the tools in this pack for free. Click on the ‘Contact us’ link to find out more.
